In the Press: Hit-and-run driver had 'temporary blackout' during fatal accident

Mario Gatt, 36, pleaded not guilty to charges of the involuntary homicide of German tourist Rainer Mader, failing to stop at the scene of the accident and possession of cannabis resin, among others. Gatt claims he suffered a temporary blackout when the incident occurred on Monday.

In a hearing yesterday before the Priviledges Committee, inspector Angelo Gafa said that the Attorney General's advice to the police was to charge ex-EU commissioner John Dalli in court.

Labour MP Marlene Farrugia was the first member of parliament to annouce her stand on the spring hunting referendum. Farrugia said that she would be voting against the retention of the current hunting law.

During questionning by the Public Accounts Committee, former prime minister Lawrence Gonzi strongly denied having any prior knowledge of the oil procurement scandal. Gonzi said he first heard of the bribery allegations in January 2013, through the media.
