In the Press: Court says PN should have had two more seats in parliament

Today's front pages are dominated by reports of a court ruling yesterday that determined that the Nationalist party should have been awarded two more seats in parliament, lowering the government's majority from nine to seven. The judge cited procedural errors during the counting of 8th and 13th district votes.

The European Commission has forecasta better-than-average rate of growth for Malta's economy. Growing GDP, low unemployment and acceptable levels of inflation were quoted as factors affecting the positive outlook.

The Jordanian airforce yesterday attacked ISIS targets in retaliation for the burning alive of a Jordanian pilot who crashlanded in ISIS territory. Some 55 militants are said to have been killed in the attack.

The government will be appealing a judge's decision to award the Nationalist party two more seats in parliament, saying that it will remove the proportionalisty in the first count results. 

The Malta Independent

Oil trader George Farrugia has undergone long hours of police interrogation, reports this newspaper. He was also placed on police bail, which means that he loses the ability to leave the country, something he still enjoying under the conditions of his previous immunity deal.
