In the Press: UNSC must send a strong message to Libyan factions - PM

The UN security council must warn rival Libyan factions to resolve their differences and tackle the threat of IS soon, said PM Joseph Muscat yesterday in parliament. Should they fail to do so in a timely manner, Muscat said the UN would have to intervene to prevent a further deterioration of the situation, which poses a real threat of an extremist takeover.

A former president of a local football club admitted that while he intended to play by the rules, he had no choice but to bow to the mounting pressure to accept bribes and fix matches. Malta FA integrity officer Franz Tabone received this admission when investigating the corruption  rife in the local football scene.

The Opposition has called on the government to make clear the situation for Enemalta workers, who remain uncertain of the security of their jobs. Shadow minister for employment Therese Comodini Cachia said that alternative employment was being offered to some workers and not to others.
