David Spiteri Gingell awarded €130,000 in Government consultancies by a single Ministry

Former EneMalta CEO David Spiteri Gingell has been awarded the princely sum of €130,000 in various consultancies by the Nationalist Government, Labour weekly paper Kullħadd revealed this morning.

Spiteri Gingell has been given various consultancies by the Nationalist Government, “varying from the pensions’ reform to the rent reform, from the school transport project to the technical services branch at the Education Ministry, and from the Delimara power station extension to the smart metering project”.

Answering a parliamentary question by Labour MP Leo Brincat this week, Education, Employment and Family Minister Dolores Cristina revealed the extent of the consultancies given to Spiteri Gingell.

For consultancy on the school transport project, Spiteri Gingelli was paid a total of €28,084 at an hourly rate of €82.60 with a maximum cap of 20 hours per week for a period of 17 weeks.

For consultancy on the technical services’ branch, Spiteri Gingell was paid a total of €49,952 also an hourly rate of €82.60 but with a maximum cap of 13.96 hours per week for a period of 26 weeks.

At the same time, Spiteri Gingell was also paid another €60,000 for consultancy on the rent reform, the pensions’ reform and the property value index also at an hourly rate of €82.60 but with a maximum cap of €19.96 hours per week for a period of 60 weeks.

At the end of his job with Enemalta Corporation, where he also took part in the adjudication of the Delimara power station contract, “Spiteri Gingell was now giving consultancy with Logus (formerly Datatrak) to the Zaren Vassallo company which was awarded the construction part of the BWSC contract,” Kullħadd reported.
