The State guarantee for the new gas power station, being built and run by private consortium Electrogas, has gone up from €88 million to €360 million, 80% of the project's financing.

Members of the CID team investigating last November's shooting incident, during which a civilian vehicle was shot by a minister's chauffeur  after a car chase, were instructed not to investigate the case, only to be ordered to return to the case some five days later.

Three multinational banks - HSBC Bank plc, Societe General and KFW IPEX-Bani GmbH - have joined local bank BOV to loan the money required by Electrogas to build the new power station.
