An internal inquiry has been ordered after an Air Malta flight to Manchester last Friday returned to Malta some 30 minutes after takeoff to pick up two stranded passengers.

PN councillors in Santa Venera were notified only one hour before a meeting they requested was to be held. The meeting was called to address issues with residents in a particular street, who claim that Labour mayor Stephen Sultana was abusing of his position.

NGOs working with refugees have called on the political class to do something to stem the flow of tragedy at sea. Some 2,600 people have died at sea this year.
