Front Favur il-Mina meet with transport minister, Transport Malta

The tunnel lobby group met with Joe Mizzi and James Piscopo to outline their vision for a more accessible Gozo

The Front Favur il-Mina lobby group held a meeting with the minister for transport and the chairman of Transport Malta this morning, to present its vision for increasing Gozo's accessibility.

The group stressed the need to prevent unnecessary delays in the feasibility studies for a tunnel to the sister island.

Minister Joe Mizzi reiterated the government's committment to completing the studies while Transport Malta's James Piscopo said that preparations ahead of the geological studies are expected to be complete by the end of the year.

The Front also expressed its concern on the latest changes to the X1 Route, which is the only express route from Cirkewwa to the centre of Malta. This route is mainly used by those visiting Mater Dei Hospital, University and the airport. Among other changes, the Mater Dei stop was excluded from its itinerary.

Mizzi said that a technical meeting, to be held next week, will address concerns about the revamped bus routes.
