Air Malta’s RJ70 aircraft had 31 engine re-fits costing half a million dollars
Air Malta’s RJ70 aircraft had their engines replaced 31 times, costing in total over half a million US dollars.
Speaking in Parliament, Finance Minister Tonio Fenech said that the engine replacements were due to damages primarily stemming from the failure of their bearings, exceedingly high engine temperatures, and engines losing oil.
Fenech said the expenditure was covered partly by the manufacturer’s guarantee, meaning that the cost shouldered by Air Malta amounted to only 300,000 US dollars.
