MCAST lecturers to strike on Monday

The strike which has been called for next Monday between 09:00am and 10:00am has been called by the MUT in protest at what it described as “repeated failure to abide by agreements, work practices and legislation,” by the education department.

In a statement, the Teachers’ Union said that criteria for progression/promotion are not being respected, while part-timers are being requested to register themselves as self-employed contrary to established legal frameworks.

The MUT stressed that the LSAs employed by MCAST are underpaid, while excess hours worked last year have since not been paid out.
