Robert Arrigo, who put forward his Nationalist Party deputy leadership bid in a short press conference this afternoon, has stated that the IVF leave legal notice was illegal.

Arrigo said that the PN was not challenging the rules granting 100 days leave to lesbian couples and infertile women to travel abroad for IVF treatment. “It is not a question of agreeing with it or not, we want things to be done well,” Arrigo said, “the [Embryo Protection Act] law has to be first changed for the legal notice to go through”.

Speaking at the press conference, Arrigo said he would later be putting forward 25 points elaborating on his new ideas, which would have a wide scope, regarding what he would do if elected deputy leader.

He said that he would like to see a broad team supporting the post, and that he would give more importance to local councils. He also maintained that the printing press should always be open and should be equipped for today and tomorrow’s requirements.
