Details of the precise cost of the Egrant inquiry have been tabled today in Parliament, with the information indicating that a total of €1,257,759.46 were spent throughout its course.

The information on the figures spent on the inquiry led by Magistrate Aaron Bugeja - which was reported to have possibly been the most expensive in Malta’s history - emerged in a reply by Justice Minister Owen Bonnici to a question by Labour MP Clayton Bartolo.

The most expensive part of the inquiry, the figures show, involved “professional forensic work”, which cost a total of over €1.04 million.

Translation from Spanish for the purposes of the report cost almost €22,000, while forensic accountancy services cost a total of €118,000.
