Scholarships and exam applications now available from dedicated one-stop-shop

A one-stop-shop for educational services has been launched to allow people to apply for scholarships, support services such as anti-bullying assistance, and examination information and course applications.

The first of its kind, education minister Evarist Bartolo said the education one-stop-shop falls under government’s Servizz.gov website.

“We strived to create a service that is open, easy to use, and does not leave people waiting for long hours... we are here for the people,” Bartolo said.

Similar one-stop-shop services have already been created for tax, finance, and family-related services.

Principal Permanent Secretary Mario Cutajar said that the services had become more specialised to give the best service possible. “It is important to make access to government services as quick and easy as possible to make sure that no one is left behind,” he said.

Cutajar said €1 million had been invested in the service, to ensure that the standard was at par with other European countries’. “We are striving for a service of excellence, that makes it as easy as possible to get you from A to Z.”

A similar one-stop-shop office was also opened in 2018 at Mater Dei Hospital, where one can make notifications of births, deaths and the urgent issue of passport applications. In 2019, a similar service will handle grants related to weddings and the purchase of musical instruments.
