Gozo minister announces fourth ferry and helicopter will operate in near future

Minister for Gozo Justyne Caruana announced that in the near future, a fourth ferry will join the Gozo Channel fleet and a helicopter service will start operating between Malta and Gozo to further increase connectivity between the two islands.

The Gozo Tourism Association (GTA) held its 20th General Meeting on Wednesday at the Grand Hotel in Mgarr, Gozo.

In his opening address, GTA chairman Paul Scicluna emphasised the need to keep on improving connectivity between Malta and Gozo and supported the idea of an introduction of an airlink. Scicluna stressed the need of upgrading tourism establishments to maintain a sustainable tourism industry in Gozo.

In his address, Tourism Minister Konrad Mizzi thanked the GTA for its contribution to the tourism industry and said that a diversification of touristic arrivals was much needed, mentioning markets like the Polish and the Hungarian.

In her closing speech, Caruana stressed that the Gozitan touristic product should be maintained by ongoing upkeep and announced that a fourth ferry joining the Gozo Channel fleet will be operating in the near future. A helicopter service between Malta and Gozo will also be introduced.
