Bojan Kaljevic scores twice as Balzan edge past Pembroke Athleta

Bojan Kaljevic’s double earned Balzan another 3 points as they managed to register a 2-1 win over Pembroke Athleta.

Balzan took the lead after just six minutes. From a freekick on the left side, Justin Griolo delivered a cross that was met by Kaljevic who headed the ball past Calleja Cremona.

Pembroke managed to equalise on the 28th minute. Mateus Regis da Silva attempted an overhead kick that took a deflection off a defender before ending up in the net.

On the 80th minute, Pembroke had an excellent opportunity to score their second goal. Jhonatan Bernardo Mariano delivered a cross from the right that was met by Mateus Regis, who forced an excellent save from Cassar. From the rebound, David Fenech’s effort was blocked on the goal line by Levanic.

Six minutes later, Balzan scored the winning goal. From a corner, Kaljevic headed the ball past Calleja Cremona.

Pembroke were close to pull level in the added time when from close-range, David Fenech sent a shot that went inches wide.
