Eleven young players from the coaching monitoring programme which is held every Friday and Sunday took part on a Round Robin basis during the Christmas holidays. The tournament was won by Jacob Gatt , followed by Nicole Fava as runner-up.
The aim of introducing Mini Orange Tournaments is to instil the enjoyment of competitive tennis as well as learning the rules of the game. These competitions are played on a scaled down tennis court while wider rackets and softer balls are used to give the young players better control.
Going with the festive season, Father Christmas joined in for a few games and later presented trophies during an little party organised for the occasion. The tournament was received with such enthusiasm that VLTC is looking forward to organise this event as an Open.
