But Gabriel Heinze's bullet diving header from a Messi corner after just 4 minutes was enough for Maradona's blue and whites to claim the three points and join South Korea at the top of Group B.

Argentina were dominant throughout with their star player Lionel Messi wreaking havoc in the Nigerian defence but the African team also came close on a number of occasions.

The next match is the much awaited clash between England and USA commencing at 830pm
