Calling all football fans! Are you planning to make the trip to England in November for the England vs Malta match? If so, then read on because we've got everything you need to know about getting from Malta to Wembley Stadium. Whether Malta wins or loses, at least your travels to the game will have been stress-free!

When and where is the Malta vs England game?

Malta will be competing against England at Wembley Stadium in London on 17 November. It falls on a Friday, which makes for a perfect quick weekend trip. Kick-off is at 7.45 pm, giving you the day to get to London from Malta and into Wembley.

Visitors who will be attending Wembley are encouraged to use public transport wherever possible. The stadium is easily accessible from three different train stations.

Which flights go to London from Malta?

Luckily for football fans, flight-wise, there are good connections between Malta and London. There are regular flights with Air Malta between Malta International Airport and both Heathrow and Gatwick airports which are both located just outside London. Additionally, they both have great connections to the city.

Air Malta provides a 10kg hand baggage allowance, ideal to suit a short break to watch the football. Although it's relatively last minute, you may still be able to find deals and offers on flights if you can be a bit flexible about your flight's exact timings.

Keep in mind that there may be a lot of people flying in for the game, so allow plenty of extra time to get around the airport and allow for possible delays. You may also consider arriving a day or two beforehand if time and money allow, to be on the safe side. Public transport will also be very busy, so it is wise to plan your route to the stadium in advance rather than leaving things until the last minute whilst stuck in the crowds.

How do you get to Wembley from Heathrow?

Ensure your travels are organised now so you can travel to London with ease of mind

Thanks to the new Elizabeth Line in the London Underground, getting from Heathrow to London's centre is quicker and cheaper than ever. Start by taking the Elizabeth Line from your Heathrow terminal into London Paddington. From here, you can take the Circle Line or Bakerloo Line to Baker Street which is just a few minutes away and then change for the Metropolitan line.

Now, you only need to travel to two stops - through Finchley Road. Then, simply get off at the Wembley Stadium stop. This stops directly at the stadium so it's only a short walk from there.

What's the best route from Gatwick to Wembley?

Gatwick is further outside London and to the south, so you'll need to get an overground train initially and get into London Victoria Station. There's a Gatwick Express service or you can get the regular Southern train that comes in via East Croydon and Clapham Junction.

Once you get to London Victoria Station you can switch to the London Underground. There are a few options on routes depending on how many changes you want to make. The option with the fewest changes (and so less chance of getting lost!) is to take the Victoria line to Green Park and then switch to the Jubilee line towards Stanmore. It's about ten stops from there to Wembley Stadium.

Be aware that time trains and routes can change and be subject to delays around big football events, so keep an eye on announcements and use a reliable map or travel app to always check for the best way to travel. Whichever route you choose, we hope you have a fantastic time and enjoy the match!
