Prime Minister Robert Abela inaugurated the regeneration project of Pjazza 1902 in Pembroke on Tuesday, the former site of the popular Raffles discvo.

At the inauguration of a regeneration project of Pjazza 1902 in Pembroke, Abela stressed that, in regeneration, we must see quality and development that respects Maltese characteristics.

He said the inaugurated project, which gives life to a place that was abandoned after extensive damage in the past, embraces the principles linked to the environment and quality.

With a private investment of €5 million, this building that housed the Raffles disco in the eighties will now offer different services for the community. From a childcare center to food establishments, a gym and even a meeting place, this Grade 1 building has been modernised while keeping its original features.

In a speech, Prime Minister Robert Abela said this investment is testimony to the government’s direction in favor of sustainable development. "We must plan these spaces with care and make them beautiful, families deserve to spend quality time in the most beautiful environment possible", Abela said.

He added that the government wants to incentivise more investment of this sort, particularly by reducing bureaucracy.

“Wise and sustainable investment brings wealth to everyone,” Abela said.
