Hannah Coleiro has been declared the winner of the second edition of the cake-baking competition, KitchenAid Cake Master Malta.

Hannah's ‘Pastry Chef’ cake was awarded the highest number of points among 10 finalists in a keenly contested competition final held at the Forestals showroom in Mriehel.

The ten cakes participating in the final were judged on overall appearance, flavour, creativity and inside characteristics.

Hannah’s cake consisted of two 6-inch vanilla sponge cakes and two 6-inch red velvet sponge cakes covered in milk chocolate ganache.

Hannah also used a wooden frame, wooden dowels and card boards to build her marvellous creation. The cake obtained 177 points from a possible total of 200.

As the competition winner, Hannah received a cheque for €500, whilst second placed Theresa Falzon and Anna Borg in third place received €350 and €150 respectively. The top three placed contestants were also given a KitchenAid Artisan 4.8Litre Mixer each.

All other participants, including the ones who did not make it to the final, received a KitchenAid apron and utensils, together with a certificate of participation.

“We are once again very happy with the overwhelming response this competition has generated. For the second year running this competition has attracted the participation of several cake baking and decorating enthusiasts in Malta,” Pierre Zammit, Chief Operations Officer at Forestals Consumer, commented at the end of the final.
