Wikileaks founder moved to isolation in British jail
Wikileaks founder Julian Assange was moved into an isolation unit in a London jail.
This follows new leaked US diplomatic cables which revealed a row between the Vatican and Ireland over a child abuse inqury.
According to one of Assange’s legal team, “The prison authorities are doing it for his own safety, presumably.”
The Australian is due to appear in London court for a second time after being arrested on a warrant issued by Sweden. The Swedish prosecutors want to question Assange about two women’s allegations of rape and sexual molestation.
Those behind the whistleblowing website insist the allegations are politically motivated because Wikileaks has enraged governments around the world by releasing thousand of classified US diplomatic cables.
Assange’s legal team complain that he was not getting any recreation time in jail and was having difficulties getting phone calls out.
“He is on his own,” they say.
Assange was also not allowed to have a laptop in his cell, but his lawyers have already requested one.
