A Somali national was arraigned in court today accused of having, on December 10, sexually harassed a Maltese woman between 7am and 8am at the Embassy Complex in Valletta.

Hussen Hassan Abdirahman, 28 and resident in Marsa, appearing before magistrate Gabriella Vella, was also accused of offending public morals, causing bother to the victim, slightly injuring the victim, damaging the victim’s mobile phone and disturbing the public peace.

Abdirahman pleaded guilty to the charges brought against him.

Taking into consideration the nature of the crime and the admission of guilt, the court found the accused guilty of the charges and sentenced him to six months imprisonment.

The court also bound the accused, against a guarantee of €300, to not approach the victim.

Inspector Daryl Borg prosecuted.
