Man dies in hospital after Wied iż-Żurrieq dive

A 64-year-old man lost his life after finding himself in difficulty while diving at Wied iż-Żurrieq on Friday afternoon, the police said in a statement.

The incident happened at around 3:30pm and the diver was brought ashore by members of the Civil Protection, where a medical team provided first assistance. The man was taken to Mater Dei Hospital but was was certified dead soon after.

Police investigations are ongoing and Magistrate Philip Galea Farrugia is leading the magisterial inquiry.
