Founder and first editor of l-orizzont, Anton Cassar, dies at age 90

Anton Cassar, the first editor of the General Workers Union daily newspaper l-orizzont, has died at the age of 90.

Before launching l-orizzont, Cassar worked at Il-Berqa. In a statement issued today, the Labour Party expressed its condolences and praised Cassar championing change through his writings.

The Institute of Maltese Journalists also extended its condolences to Cassar's family. Cassar was the recipient of the IGM's Gold Award.

Last year, Cassar was awarded a lifetime achievement award by the National Book Council.
