The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community called on newly-elected Archbishop Charles Scicluna to use his influence to develop tolerance and harmony between people of different faith and ideologies.

“There is a great need to join together upon our common teachings and values,” the Ahmadiyya Community’s President Laiq Ahmed Atif said in a statement. “Rather than division, the world desperately needs unity and compassion.”

Atif congratulated the Roman Catholic Church and its Maltese members following Scicluna’s election and extended their cooperation to him in bringing people together towards peace, reconciliation and mutual understanding.

“In terms of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat, we have always been at the forefront of promoting inter-faith harmony and striving for peace,” Atif said. “We always co-operate with all people and organisations who desire peace and tolerance and will forever continue to do so.”
