'PL is wasting time and obstructing justice' - PN

Nationalist Party says it is determined to see justice and respect the electorate’s wishes after the Constitutional court ruled that the Labour Party should have been involved from the outset

The appeals’ court’s decision today means that the Labour Party has managed to waste time and prevent justice from being reached, PN said in a statement issued earlier today.

“The Maltese public is paying the price for this waste of time as it has two missing Opposition representatives in parliament,” the statement reads.

PN insists that like the rest of the country, the Labour Party was aware of the court case into mistakes in vote counting during the last general elections, from the offset.

“PL did everything in its power to prolong the process as much as possible. It waited until the first court had made its decision to appeal and properly look at the issue,” the statement reads, explaining that this was all to postpone the course of justice.

“As a consequence of this, the Opposition has already missed two years where it was meant to have two additional seats in parliament.”

PN added that PL had managed to manipulate the legal system to waste time and postpone justice.

“Justice delayed is justice denied,” they stressed. “The longer justice is served, the longer democracy is being challenged.”

The statement explained that PL was slowly but surely becoming a threat to democracy.

“PN is still determined and committed to obtaining justice for the people’s wish to have two more opposition representatives in parliament.”
