27-year-old Daboma Jack, a Hungarian citizen and father of two studying for his Masters in management in Malta, says the hasty, wrongful assault from RIU police that cuffed him to the ground is an opportunity for him to create awareness for the need for dialogue.

“First I laughed in disbelief as I got arrested… but when people started clapping, I started crying… it felt very bad, it breaks the heart,” Jack told MaltaToday in one of his final interviews after a packed day meeting civil liberties minister Helena Dalli, and giving interviews to the press.

“I need to create awareness… it’s already difficult being a migrant going to another place. How much more difficult it is when you feel you have to be careful for every step to take… people are conditioned.”
