In the Press: No plans to reduce Air Malta workforce despite fleet reductions

Air Malta has 143 employees per aircraft, a rate higher than some comparable airlines. A planned reduction in the company's fleet - to seven in winter and eight in summer - was not accompanied by a reduction in staff numbers, tourism minister Edward Zammit Lewis insisted.

Joe Gaffarena and his son Mark have filed sworn affidavits saying that it was former health minister Joe Cassar who encouraged the two to meet the deputy head of the party. This assertion follows PN leader Simon Busuttil's filing of four libel suits against media outlets.

PN deputy leader Beppe Fenech Adami said that he had no knowledge of any donations from the Gaffarena family towards the Nationalist party, since the time he took up his role within the party.
