Media.Link, the Nationalist Party’s media house, has fired one of its DJs following an irresponsible comment posted on Facebook.

DJ Lito – who referred to the tragedy at Paqpaqli ghall-Istrina as ‘ifqghani ghall-Istrina’ – took to the social media ‘to reveal an exclusive story’ and claim that the government and opposition had reached an agreement to declare 4 October a national holiday to remember the “six injured”.

Taking his black humour a step further, Dj Lito also wrote that talks were underway to replace the George Cross on the national flag with the “best selfie of this event”.

The DJ was harshly criticized by Facebook commentators, who said that his comment was uncalled for. He later apologized and deleted his comments.

However today, the management of Media.Link Communications said that it felt DJ Lito should no longer continue to present programmes on its radio station.

It also expressed solidarity with those injured.
