Villa Sunset actress Connie Azzopardi dies at 79

Well-known local actress, Connie Azzopardi, has passed away at the age of 79.

Azzopardi was unexpectedly admitted to hospital two days ago, and lapsed into unconsciousness shortly afterwards.

The Sliema-born actress is the sister of the late Gemma Portelli, with whom she started her acting career when she was 16.

Throughout her long career, Azzopardi took part in numerous productions on TV and on radio, including a main part in Villa Sunset.

Several fellow actors and fans took to social media to express their condolences.

Amongst them was actor Hector Bruno who was shocked upon hearing the news.
