Krishna too good for Melita

They were playing the league leaders Krishna C.C.

The Melita team batted first and after an over and a half all the players were fleeing into the pavilion, when a heavy shower hit the ground.

The Melita players were comfortable with this situation (a tied or washed out game would earn each team three league table points each) until after fifteen minutes when play resumed.

The shower made it more difficult to bat on the pitch and the Melita team were bowled out for 53 runs through an indifferent bowling spell for Sid Anand who took four wickets and also managed to bowl seven wides in his six over spell. Tony Slater bowled a six over spell which produced two maidens, took two wickets for nine runs. Mike Caruana took one wicket.

Sumair Khan was the most successful batsman top scoring with seventeen runs and scoring the only two boundaries from two very good pull shots, of the innings.  Extras was the actually top scorer with eighteen.

Matt Mckeogh playing his first game for Melita remaine unbeaten with four runs.

Melita needed early wickets to have any chance, they managed to take four wickets which earned them one point, Eric Krishna, Andy Naudi, Chris Naudi and Sumair Khan all taking a wicket each.. For the victors which only took nine overs, John Grima top scored with twenty two runs which included two boundaries.

Puneet Gupta scored eight runs, Andy Mitchell five runs, John Rusher two runs and Sid Anand four runs. There were sixteen extras. The Krishna team earned ten points for the win. The two teams have met three times so far with Krishna winning twice.

Next Saturday the Krishna team take on the Marsa team. Saturday morning the Sunoco cricket Academy will be from 9:00am till 10:30am.
