Marsa win mini tournament

On Saturday the Marsa C.C entertained another two teams, Romany C.C and Washington C.C in a mini T20 tournament.

The Home team played Romany in the opening game, where the visitors batted first. A great bowling performance from the Marsa team kept them to 90 runs. Malcolm Crabbe top scored with twenty five runs. Jonathan King made sixteen runs, C.Pritchard fifteen runs, G.Martin twelve runs and extras were seventeen as the main contributors. The Marsa team used nine bowlers , Andy Naudi was the most successful taking two wickets, haroon Majeed, Kevin Krishna and Nadeem Bhatti took a wicket each. It took the home team till the seventeenth over to make the required runs losing only one wicket that of Nowell Khosla for fourteen runs. Derek Ali top scored with thirty four runs which included two fours and a six and Andrew Naudi made thirty runs which included four boundaries. Mars win the first game.

In the second game Romany took on Washington, batted first and made a formidable 143 runs of their overs with G.Martin making forty eight. Washington needing twenty runs to win of the last over and remarkable three sixes were hit and eventually won the game with two balls to spare.

The third game was between the two winners. Winner takes all.

Washington batted first and managed to score 107 runs, again the Marsa bowlers did well. M.Turner top scored with forty four runs, A.Stevenson made twenty and L.Mitchell sixteen. For Marsa Sumair Khan and Sarfraz Ali took two wickets each while Bikram Arora and Puneet Gupta took a wicket each. Again it took the home team seventeen overs to make the required runs, this time they had lost five wickets. Dave Borg made twenty five runs,Mark G.Sacco twenty four runs and Bikram Arora top scored with thirty seven runs which included three sixes. For Washington S.Marsh took two wickets while P.Kloss, L.Mitchell and G.Martin took a wicket each.

Last Wednesday The Fiddlers C.C managed to avoid the whitewash by making 207 runs while Marsa could only make 172 runs with Nowell Khosla making fifty runs and Punneet Gupta thirty nine.

Next Weekend starting Friday the Malta Cricket Association will be holding an international t20 tournament which will involve Malta, Czech Republic, Hungary and Russia.
