Tarxien earn first win of the season

Tarxien Rainbows finally managed to earn their first win of the season yesterday afternoon when they defeated Naxxar Lions 2-1.

Naxxar’s season has not started as planned as this was their third defeat in five matches.

Naxxar and Tarxien both had their chances in front of goal, but the first half remained goalless.

Tarxien managed to take the lead on the 58th. Off a cross by Jorge Santos Silva, Alvaro Andre Rodrigues Silva managed to beat goalkeeper Julian Azzopardi to give his team the lead.

Tarxien were full of confidence now and on the 65th minute they managed to double their lead. A cross by Wesley Lima Silva appeared to be deflected into goal by Naxxar’s Mattia Del Degro.

Naxxar managed to reduce Tarxien’s lead on the 70th minute. Off a corner by Terence Vella, Emmanuel Ibok Edet’s header beat goalkeeper Sean Cini to make the score 2-1.
