Qormi end Siren’s cup dream with heavy defeat

Qormi had no difficulty in disposing of second division team Sirens as they registered a demolishing 7-0 victory at the Hibs Stadium.  Qormi now join holders Valletta and Hibernians in the last four of the FA Trophy.

Qormi opened their account on 15 minutes when Duncan Pisani’s long pass release Alfred Effiong with the latter sliding the ball past Sirens keeper Gianni Spiteri.

Despite waves of protests from the Sirens players for an alleged offside, the referee took no notice as the goal stood in favour of Qormi.

Qormi doubled the score on 23 minutes when Swedish player Nilsson stole possession in the middle of the pitch to play a neat one two with Chetcuti with the swede finishing the move to put the ball past the keeper.

Mark Miller’s side added more woes to their opponents when Marcelinho’s direct free kick ended into the bottom corner of the net.

Qormi made it 4-0 seven minutes from the end of the first half when from a corner kick taken by Marcelinho, Zoran Levnaic headed the ball into the net.

New Boy Villalobos made it 5-0 when after some good play from Pisani, the full back sent a good pass to Villalobos who had no difficulty in hitting the ball home.

Qormi scored their sixth on 83 minutes with Villalobos picking up Effiong who easily moved past a defender before sending a cross towards Pisani who immediately lotched it on towards Marchelinho who ended the move with a powerful shot into the back of the net.

Emerson Vella completed the score line of 7-0 who after beating two players managed to place the ball into the bottom corner of the net.
