The Brazilian centre-back was in Milan yesterday to complete his medical, and the Nerazzurri have officially confirmed he has signed.

“F.C. Internazionale is delighted to announce that the paperwork has been completed and delivered to the Lega Serie A offices for the transfer of João Miranda de Souza Filho from Club Atletico de Madrid,” a statement on the club’s website announced.

“The Brazilian defender, who recently played in the 2015 Copa America and won the 2009 Confederations Cup with the Seleção, penned his contract after passing his medical tests in Milan

“The 30-year-old has won seven trophies at club level, including the 2013/14 Spanish league title.”

Inter president Erick Thohir welcomed new signing Miranda to the club: “Miranda is another great addition to Roberto Mancini’s squad for our new Inter. He is an experienced player who is as eager as we are to get started on our new adventure. The new season is just around the corner and this will be an exciting moment for us and for the fans. Forza Inter!”

Miranda joined Atletico from Sao Paolo in 2011 following a spell with French club Sochaux and was a key part of the side that won La Liga and reached the final of the Champions League in 2013-14.

He was in the Brazil squad at the Copa America currently being played in Chile.

Inter, who won a treble of European Cup and Italian league and Cup in 2009-10, are looking to rebuild under coach Roberto Mancini after failing to qualify for continental competition last season
