Mosta made a perfect start to the match as they went ahead after just three minutes. Njongo Priso went inside the penalty area and hit a shot that gave Andrea Cassar no chance.

On the 9th minute, Mosta went close again. Jean Pierre Mifsud Triganza sent a shot from a free kick that forced a good save from Cassar.

Tarxien responded on the 12th minute. Alex Nilsson saw his shot hitting the post. From the rebound, the same player hit another shot that was saved by Yenz Cini. Julian Galea also tried to finish inside the net but Cini was on the alert to deny him as well.

On the 35th minute, Kurt Magro of Mosta sent a shot that was well saved by Cassar.

Nine minutes into the second half, Cini was again central as he managed to deny Nilsson once more.

Mosta doubled the score on the 58th minute. Pedro Dos Santos Calcado served David Fenech and the latter hit a powerful drive past Cassar.

Nilsson was denied by Cini again on the 65th minute. Following a good run, the Swedish striker forced another good save from the Mosta goalkeeper.

On the 77th minute, Calcado tried his luck from a free kick and hit shot went marginally over.

Three minutes later, Tarxien reduced the margin of the score. Following a cross from the left, Jonas Rodrigues Ekani finished past his own goalkeeper.
