Tarxien’s poor form continued as they suffered a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Birkirkara.

Birkirkara broke the deadlock on the 50th minute. Johann Bezzina’s delivery from a free-kick was met by Nikola Vukanac who headed home.

The Rainbows were reduced to ten men on the 80th minute as Jacson de Paixao was sent off after being shown his second yellow card of the match.

Riise’s men took advantage and doubled their lead two minutes from time. From a free-kick, Bezzina delivered the ball towards Luke Montebello who slotted it past Maverick Buhagiar.

Following this result, Birkirkara can keep on believing that they can qualify for the Europa League. On the other hand, Tarxien need to improve as they are now risking relegation.
