Autocross and Motocross races resume next Sunday

ASM-Pasta Poiatti Autocross and Motocross 2011/12 Championship races are scheduled for next Sunday 8th January, with the Green Lights going on at 11.00am. The day’s programme will include the 7th race for the Autocross cars and the 4th race for the Motocross of classes A & B.

The Autocross Result Sheet show that Championships winner Patrick Cassar is leading the Class “A” scale with his 41 points against Runner-up Christian Galea’s 29 points on his Fiat Ritmo. Both Cassar and Galea perform very well during the Heats and Final Races. Emanuel Muscat on an Opel Corsa is placed 3rd Overall in the list to date.

Matthew Borg with 18 points on his Vauxhall Nova is leading the Class “B” with a single point ahead of Mario Scicluna’s 17 points on an Opel Corsa. Keith Borg is placed 3rd overall with 13 points. 

Motocross rider Carmelo Borg is leading his highly competitive Class “A” with 70 points on his 2011 Suzuki RMZ. Runner-up is ex-champion Clayton Camilleri with 65 points on his KTM SXF 250cc while current Championship winner Stefan Dimech is placed 3rd overall with 60 hard earned points in the Class “A” scale.

Motocross Class “B” leader Charles Borg on his Honda CRF won 67 points. 63 points winner Turu Micallef is Runner-up on his Honda CRF.  3rd place is shared between Brandon Cassar on his new 250cc Yamaha and Brandon Slowe on a 250cc Honda CRF with 53 points each.

In a few days ASM will be welcoming the UEM Secretary General Sig. Alessandro Sambuco, Sig. Domenico Sotera FMI Head of Motocross Technicians Classes in the Italian Federation and Gabriele Settineri – FMI Motocross Riding Technician. UEM and FMI personnel will be lecturing professional Motocross rider preparation and safety, riding and motorcycle preservation classes among other valuable subjects.  The Practical experiences will be held at the ASM Racing Circuits at Ta Qali. This delegation will be in Malta between the 13th and 15th January 2012. They will also be discussing the possibility for further involving ASM with UEM and FMI with regards to Offroad Motorcycling.

In January the ASM will be organising a Dinner-Presentation of trophies of the ASM 2010/11 Champions. Details can be obtained from the ASM website www.asm.com.mt/

Official Practice sessions are held on Saturday’s between 10.00am and 4.00pm.
