Special night event by ASM at Ta Qali

A special Summer Time Motorsport event is to be organised by Assocjazzjoni Sport Muturi at the ASM racing circuits at Ta Qali next Saturday 21st July 2012.

This special Summer Night event which has now found its place in the ASM Sports Calendar is to include races from all of ASM's clubs within our Association. Racing starts at around 5.00pm up to about 11.00pm mostly under artificial lights.

Though these races will be non-championship events yet the competition will be high with the participation of new drivers and riders, new cars and bikes too.

Training sessions for all sections are in order and the tracks have been refurbished also to accept Quadbike riding. These will be run on a new special track formed on the Autocross and the Motocross tracks thus making the circuit more technical rather than a speed event.

The return of some Banger cars will add fun to the days' program. These run on a contact approved race where as the Autocross cars will be penalised as there are expected to run a 'contact free' race.

The Trials riders will demonstrate their abilities of riding over natural and man-made obstacles. During this week Trials training sessions are at their peak while new comers to the sport will be receiving their lessons in the subject. Though Trials is mainly a motorsport for the younger generation, an 'Over 40' class is planned and will be set-up to European levels.

The Gozo Autocross riders will be running on track in next Saturday's grand event too. Though their cars are similar to the Maltese Autocross formula cars, diesel powered cars are included in this group. Nicholas Agius who returned back for holidays from Australia will be racing his 1400cc Ford Capri of six years ago.

New Autocross drivers and new cars are expected to run their first runs next Saturday. Also, the Motocross riders will be riding the tracks in preparation for the coming championship races for Class A and Class B.

Following this event ASM will be organising a great 'Pasta Night' on the 28th July evening for all members, families and friends. This Pasta Night will be held in a fabulous place name 'Ta' Zaccu' in Siggiewi.  Details can be obtained from the ASM website www.asm.com.mt and on Facebook A.S.M. Malta.
