ASM Autocross and Quad Bikes on Sunday 21 October

On Sunday 14th October ASM-Pasta Poiatti launched its Moto-Trials Championship for 2012-13. Unlike all other sport which is organised at the ASM Ta Qali Racing Circuits, Trials is not a speed event but its really interesting to watch the various riders riding over natural obstacles with great technique from a close range to the bikes.

Trials biking is a show of riders skills, evaluation and riders judgments and motorbike techniques over obstacles. Penalty points are awarded to riders who drop a foot and more. So the winner is the rider who gains the least number of penalty points or performing ‘Clean Passes’.

A good number of competitors entered the competition and performed in the varios sections which were prepared by the Nursery and Coach John Bonello.
Both classes performed well in the first section thus point were balanced so far. But from there on the Class ‘A’ riders excelled over the Class ‘B’ less experienced riders.

Veteran Robert Caruana on  a GasGas bike performed a number of ‘Clean’ runs thus taking the lead to fellow riders. Current Champion Damon Bonello was challenged by Nick Farrugia on Beta machines battled for 2nd place. Caruana won first place on the day while Farrugia and Bonello followed in 2nd and 3rd places respectively.

Class ‘B’ Rider Jonathan Camilleri performed very well in all the sections on the day on his GasGas Trials motorcycle and won his class with a marginal advantage. Manuel Camilleri on a Beta and young Rowen Bonello on a GasGas finished in 2nd and 3rd places respectively.

Trials Practical and Technical lessons are carried out at the ASM Racing Circuits. Lessons and techniques for Trials riding over natural and man-made obstacles are held every Saturday afternoon from 3.00pm onwards. These tuition are carried out by Trials experienced coaches John and Eddie Bonello. ASM and new members are welcome to attend such lessons.
