Maltese youth wins European Junior double trap championships

Nathan Lee Xuereb takes gold at championships in Hungary

Nathan Lee Xuereb and his coach Jimmy Bugeja earned congratulations today from Parliamentary Secretary for Research, Innovation, Youth and Sport, Chris Agius, after winning a gold medal in the Junior double trap event at the European Championships in Hungary.

Nathan Lee Xuereb managed 28 out of 30 clays in the first and second rounds and a perfect straight of 30 in the third round.  He later managed 26 and 24 in his fourth and fifth rounds for a total of 136 out of 150 clays. 

With this result, he qualified for the semifinals together with six other shooters. He managed 26 out of 30, the same as another three shooters, but won the shoot off to qualify for Gold/Silver, together with James Dedman from Great Britain.

In the final Nathan Lee Xuereb managed 26 and Dedman 22, delivering the gold medal to the Maltese shooter.
