The Hyundai Tennis Europe Junior Tournament at Tennis Club Kordin
For the ninth consecutive year, Tennis Club Kordin, in conjunction with the Malta Tennis Federation, will be hosting the 14 & Under International ranking tournament for both Boys and Girls.
A record number of players have applied, 106 Boys and 68 Girls coming from 22 different nationalities. This prestigious tournament is being sponsored by Meridian Enterprises Co Ltd through their brand Hyundai Motor Vehicles.
“Hyundai nowadays has established a great affinity with the world of sports having been one of the main sponsors of this year’s World Cup tournament in South Africa. Therefore, supporting an international tennis tournament was a natural step for Hyundai Malta,” said Andy Portelli, Sales Manager of Hyundai Malta. “We are proud to be sponsoring this forthcoming tournament and our support will go first and foremost to the participating Maltese competitors. We augur that Hyundai’s winning spirit will accompany all these young participants who are set to give us a grueling but very interesting European ranking event,” added Mr. Portelli.
The Maltese boys taking part in this tournament are; Cassar Torregiani Bernard, Sammut Raphael, Cassar Torregiani Matthew and Schranz Mark. The Maltese girls are; Farrugia Sacco Maria Giorgia, Cassar Alexia, Sammut Katrina, McCarthy Rebecca and Zammit Ciantar Naomi.
The qualifying Rounds for both sections will be played on Saturday 21st and Sunday 22nd August . Sign-in for qualifying rounds takes place on Friday 20th with closing time at 18.00hrs.
Signing-in for Main Draw will take place on Sunday 22nd August with closing time at 18.00 hrs. Draws will be made immediately after the Sign-in for both the Qualifying Rounds and the Main Draws.
Play of the Main Draws starts on Monday 23rd August and come to an end with the Finals on Saturday 28th August
Sign-in for the double events will be held on Monday 23rd with play starting the following day and a Consolation Event for both Boys and Girls will be held for 1st round losers.
