Round of 16 features nine seeded players

Cincinnati’s 2008 champion, Andy Murray, will take to the court in the first singles match of the day. Murray will meet Latvian Ernests Gulbis in a matchup that favors Murray, as he has won all four of their past meetings.

Following the Scotsman, top-seeded Rafael Nadal will continue his Cincinnati campaign against Frenchman Julien Benneteau. Benneteau, coming off a win against Stanislas Wawrinka, has a 1-1 lifetime record against the Spaniard.

Roger Federer will face the German Philipp Kohlschrieber in the fourth match on Center Court Thursday. Federer has won all five of the previous meetings, but this will be only the second time the two have met on hard court. The first time Federer and Kohlschriber met on the surface was last year in the quarterfinals of Doha. Federer needed a tie-breaker to beat Kohlschrieber in the second set 6-2, 7-6(6).

In the night cap, two-time Cincinnati champion Andy Roddick is matched-up against the super-serving Swede Robin Soderling. The match is a rematch of this year’s Indian Wells semifinal won by Roddick 6-4, 3-6, 6-3.

Grandstand again offers a strong schedule including two-time Cincinnati finalist and 2008 Australian Open champion Novak Djokovic in the second day match. Djokovic will take on David Nalbandian who has won 13 of his last 14 matches.

The night match on Grandstand will try to rival Wednesday night’s epic between Lleyton Hewitt and Robin Soderling. Thursday, No. 10 seed David Ferrer will take on No. 6 seed Nikolay Davydenko. The two met in the quarterfinals in Cincinnati in 2007 with Davydenko winning 6-2, 6-4.
