Germany coach Joachim Low pay deal is half of Capello price

Germany boss Joachim Low will be given a bumper new deal, but it is still half the amount earned by World Cup flop Fabio Capello.

Low took his side to the semi-finals while on a contract worth only £1.7m-a-year. The German Football Federation are now proposing to raise that to £2.7m in a bid to keep him according to the Daily Star.

This is not even half the £5.5m the English FA are paying Capello, despite England’s disastrous World Cup campaign.

Capello even had the terms of his contract slightly improved before the World Cup started as the FA were desperate to keep him from signing a deal with Inter Milan.

England have spent almost £50m on managers in the last 10 years in a bid to land a major trophy.

Capello is paid four times more than Spanish boss Vicente Del Bosque who has taken his country to their first ever World Cup Final.

The former Real Madrid manager earns £1.3m a year with a few add-ons. He will receive an extra £300,000 for reaching the final and if Spain win it, that will be doubled.

Holland coach Bert van Marwijk is on £1.5m a year.
