World Cup matches live and free at Qawra national aquarium

Football fans will be able to follow all the World Cup matches on giant screens outside the Qawra natinal aquarium

The Malta National Aquarium and Public Broadcasting Services Limited will be showing 64 of the most exciting World Cup matches live and for free on Big Screen outside the National Aquarium in Qawra.

“We are pleased to announce a collaboration agreement in relation to the FIFA World Cup. Between the 12th June and the 13th July 2014, Pjazza San Pawl, forming part of the Malta National Aquarium complex, will be the official FIFA World Cup BRAZILTM village for the tournament being held in Brazil,” PBS chief executive Anton Attard said.

During this one-month event, all 64 matches will be shown live on a big screen that will be set up specifically for the World Cup. Enthusiasts will be able to follow all the World Cup matches on giant screens in a truly unique venue, offering a relaxing atmosphere with breathtaking views of St Paul’s islands.

TVM and TVM2 are trailblazers in the broadcasting of major sporting event, an element which PBS considers to be an important component of the company’s agenda. “Over the past months, TVM and TVM2 have increased the number of sports-related broadcasts,” Attard said.

“Our stations are showing live games from the BOV Premier League, the Champions League, the Europa League and the 2014 World Cup at no extra cost for the viewers. “This new agreement with UEFA for the U-17 championship, Euro 2016 and 2018 World Cup further strengthens our commitment to give our viewers the best sporting content possible free of charge.

Entrance to the piazza is free, with ample parking outside the village and in the Qawra area. The children’s play areas, restaurant and bars ensure that young children and parents can enjoy watching the matches in a safe and secure environment.

Mr. Mark Pace, Sales and Marketing Director at the Malta National Aquarium said that this is a family event in a secure environment with children’s play area, landscaped garden and ‘access for all’ philosophy. The World Cup Village promises to be the venue for all football enthusiasts irrespective of their age, status and physical capabilities.

All the 64 fixtures will be aired, where 32 teams will give out their all to earn a name for them and leave an imprint of their nations in the sport’s history. The Brazilians playing in their home ground will definitely be trying hard to bring back the trophy they lost in 2006, while the squads from Italy, England, Germany, France, Argentina, Portugal and the defending champion Spain are gearing up to give a tough fight to the hosts.
