Isle of MTV – get your traffic logistics right

The Malta Tourism Authority has publishing a list of traffic arrangements for the Isle of MTV concert on Wednesday 30 June.

Traffic considerations
Triq Sarrija, Floriana, will be closed to all traffic from Tuesday 29th June until Thursday 1st July at 5pm, and cleared from parking from Monday the 21st June till the 1st of July.

Triq San Publiju, Floriana, will be closed to all passing traffic and cleared from parking from Wednesday 23rd June until Friday 2nd July. Traffic is to pass from Triq Sant Anna or Triq E.S. Tonna into Triq Vincenzo Bugeja and past Police GHQ and the Curia.

Buses:
 Buses will operate an extra schedule from 22:00hrs until 01:00 hrs. The price of tickets from 22:00hrs onwards will be €1.16 to all locations. The bus lane from Pietà to Valletta is to be kept clear on the night of the Isle of MTV concert. The area in front of the APS Bank in Triq Sant’Anna, Floriana, is the designated drop-off point for those travelling to the concert on buses or coaches. All Coaches are to park next to the SPCA. Buses will be passing from Triq Sant’ Anna into Vjal Nelson from the 29th June until the 1st July, midday

Park and Ride: The Park and Ride service will operate normally. However, the Transport Authority (ADT) will be arranging for extra shuttles depending on demand.

Parking:
 Vehicular cars are to make use of the Park and Ride area as much as possible. Cars are to be parked well and within the designated areas as Police will be patrolling the zone.

Access on foot:
 Entry to the Granaries will be from the back end via E.S. Tonna Str. or through the Mall in Floriana. There will be no entry into Triq Sarrija or Triq San Publiju from Great Siege Road. Exits will be from Triq Sarrija or Triq San Publiju into Great Siege Road.

Medical Posts:
 There will be two Medical Posts in the area around the Granaries.
The 1st Medical post is to be situated next to the Catholic Institute, in J.Lopez Street. Another medical post may be found under the Independence Monument, outside The Mall. This Clinic only will also serve as a ‘Lost Persons’ reference point.


Cleansing: 
The Cleansing Department will commence cleaning of the streets around the Granaries from 01:00 hrs on Thursday 1st July (immediately after the concert ends) and will continue until all the structures are removed.
The public is urged to be considerate of others at all times and to co-operate fully with law enforcement officials, security staff and stewards. The directives above may possibly be subject to certain changes.
