MITA nominated for end user DCS award

The Malta Information Technology Agency has been nominated for the Datacentre Solutions Awards which reward the products, projects and services while honouring companies and teams operating in data centre fields.

Recognising the achievements of end-users, winners of the annual DCS Awards will be announced in May 2012. MITA will be competing in the End User category awards for the Public Sector Datacentre Project of the Year.

In their nominee profile, MITA explained the process behind the MITA-01 Datacentre set-up while providing reasons why MITA should be awarded.

These reasons are the following:

  1. ‘State of the art’ Data Centre of the highest quality and standards
  2. Solid Platform for government ICT initiatives covering Healthcare, e-Learning, eGovernment functions based innovative and cost effective solutions
  3. International Accreditation from the Uptime Institute for the TIER III Data Centre Design.
  4. Is inline with the stringent EU Code of Conduct for Data Centres policies and guidelines
  5. Executed in a timely manner of seven months and within the estimated budget of €7 million. This investment was aimed at Value for Money, the highest return on investment (ROI), and reduce operational costs.

With over 28,000 users, 450 terabytes of storage capacity and the ability to manage over 16,000 accounts with over 1 million emails per day, the MITA-01 Data Centre is set to keep Malta at the forefront of ICT standards across European Government.
