Man airlifted to Mater Dei from Gozo after being hit by a car in Rabat

Police are investigating a traffic accident in Gozo which left a 63-year-old man in critical condition on Wednesday.

The accident happened at 7:30am at Triq ir-Repubblika in Rabat.

Early investigations suggest that the victim, who lives in Żebbuġ (Gozo), was hit by a Citroen Berlingo. A 31-year-old man from Rabat was driving the car at the time of the accident.

A medical team administered first aid to the victim and later took him to the Gozo General Hospital.

His injuries were deemed to be critical, and he was taken to Mater Dei Hospital by helicopter for further medical treatment.

Magistrate Brigitte Sultana is leading an inquiry into the accident as police continue to investigate.
