Man dies in Lija traffic accident

A 33-year-old Eritrean died this morning when the car he was driving crashed into an electricity pole and then into a field in Naxxar Road, Lija.

The police said that the man from Valletta drove a Peugeot 309 in the direction of Mosta and for some reason lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a pole and a tree.

The driver was rescued by members of the Civil Protection Department and assisted by an ambulance crew, but he succumbed to his injuries at Mater Dei Hospital.
