Judicial protest filed against stone suppliers over parliament delays

CFF Filiberti Srl, which processes stone blocks, claims that Q Stone Ltd did not deliver the agreed quantity of stone every month within the agreed timeframe

An Italian company has filed a judicial protest against Q Stone Ltd, requesting it to supply the remaining amount of stone agreed without delay, threatening to hold it responsible for any resulting fines, costs and damages.

In the protest, CFF Filiberti Srl, which processes stone blocks, says it was contracted to process and install the facade of the new Parliament building following the issuing of a tender. It claims Q Stone Ltd was appointed as a nominated supplier by the Grand Harbour Regeneration Corporation.

CFF claims that Q Stone Ltd did not deliver the agreed quantity - 200 square meters - of stone every month within the agreed timeframe and is yet to deliver the final 60 square meters. It further claimed that the quality of the stone supplied is inferior to that agreed upon.

The protest claims that as a result of this, CFF is being fined €1,000 euros per day by the Grand Harbour Regeneration Corporation.

This, CFF said, was leading to delays in the opening of the new parliament building, a project now overdue by two years.

Lawyers James Scerri Worley and Andrew Grima signed the protest.
