Timely intervention by prison warders stops fire from spreading

Investigation underway at the Corradino Correctional Facility after a mattress caught fire in a prison cell

Tragedy at the Corradino Correctional Facility was averted today when prison warders acted on time to stop a fire from spreading in one of the cells.

In a statement, the Home Affairs Ministry said the prison officials noticed smoke coming out from a under a cell door in Division 2.

The warders acted quickly and extinguished the blaze that was coming from a mattress in the middle of the prison cell.

No one was injured in the incident.

A police investigation is underway.
